The 4 Most Expensive Homes In The World
We Brits love having a sneaky snoop at other people’s houses to see how they compare to our own and whether they offer any inspirational ideas that we can incorporate into our personal abode.
For those feeling exceptionally flush we thought we’d give you a round-up of the four most expensive properties on Planet Earth.
It’s fair to say that you’ll need seriously deep pockets to tempt any of the lucky owners to part with their palatial properties.
- Antilia Building – worth £650 million
Situated in India, the Antilia Building is owned by the Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani.
A 27-storey building covering 400,000 square feet, it has enough garage space for 168 cars and has no less than 3 helipads on its roof. Occupied by just a single family who live on the upper floors of the building, over 600 members of staff are employed to maintain the residence around the clock.
Many within the country disapprove of the property and regard it as being ostentatious considering the level of poverty experienced by many Indian families.
- Villa Leopolda – £578 million
Named after King Leopold II of Belgium, you will find this extremely large detached villa on the French Riviera where it’s amongst 18 acres of grounds.
Overlooking the Mediterranean, it was inherited by the current owners, Edmond and Lily Safra, and the property has featured in two major films – The Red Shoes and To Catch a Thief.
- Bel Air Spec Manor – £193 million
If you’re a fan of James Bond or ten-pin bowling, this is the house for you! This Bel Air Mansion is thought to be the most expensive home in America and contains a James Bond-themed cinema and four-lane bowling alley.
For your money you’ll also get 21 bathrooms, three gourmet kitchens, two master suites and 10 guest suites. We should also mention the 17,000 square-foot entertainment deck, fitness centre and swimming pool.
- Four Fairfield Pond – £193 million
Also across the pond is the New York residence of US billionaire Ira Rennert. Four Fairfield Pond covers 63 acres and contains 29 bedrooms and an unbelievable 39 bathrooms – no chance of their ever being a queue for the loo first thing in the morning!
Other key features of the house include a basketball court, three swimming pools and a 91-foot long dining room.
