Orangery vs Conservatory
We often get asked “what’s the difference between an orangery and a conservatory?” So don’t worry, you’re not alone if this question has also been on your mind.
In recent years, the differences between a conservatory and an orangery are less apparent and so it can sometimes be hard to tell them apart, but here are a few general guidelines:
- Orangeries tend have more brickwork than a classic glazed conservatory
- Conservatories are primarily glass structures
- Orangeries have a more solid, structured roof
- Conservatories come in a variety of shapes, whereas orangeries are often rectangular builds
The versatile designs of both means you can completely manipulate your bespoke conservatory or orangery to make it your own, ensuring that the finished installation is the perfect addition to your home.
Modern or Traditional?
The style you choose will most likely be dependant on your home’s existing features, so you can expand on them to create a seamless connection.
In most cases, you won’t need to worry about planning permission, but you will need to think about a coloured finish, roof style and other components like windows and doors to complete the overall look!
