Whichever of our design experts you speak to, they all have in-depth knowledge of planning laws and will tell you everything you need to know about them.
Infringement of planning rules is a big mistake to make!
You could find it tremendously difficult to sell your property and your local planning committee may force you to either modify the design to bring it in line with the relevant guidelines or worse than that, knock it down.
Work alongside Orion Windows and everything will be done as it should be, with all planning requirements complied to.
Is planning permission necessary for conservatories?
Conservatory designs that meet the limits and conditions to be considered Permitted Developments do not require planning permission.
You can just commence with building them without having to draw up and submit a planning application.
Click here to see what the different limits and conditions are.
Do porches need planning permission?
There are separate regulations for porch installations if you want to extend the front of your property, rather than the back. Compliance with these regulations once again affords you Permitted Development Rights.
The limits and conditions for porches are as follows:
- the ground floor area (measured externally) would not exceed three square metres.
- no part would be more than three metres above ground level (height needs to be measured in the same way as for a house extension).
- no part of the porch would be within two metres of any boundary of the dwellinghouse and the highway.
How do you go about applying for planning permission?
A planning application can be drafted and submitted via post, email, or you can sort it using the Planning Portal website, the home of planning and building regulations information in England.
There is a fee for planning applications and it varies from place to place – use the fee calculator on the Planning Portal to find out how much you’ll have to pay.
After receiving and authenticating your application, your local authority will put it to a public consultation of three to eight weeks. The purpose of this is to allow affected neighbours to raise any worries or objections they have to the proposed development. An official decision on whether a project has been approved or refused is usually declared eight or so weeks on from an application’s submission.
If it gives you any encouragement, we can tell that an average of 86% of planning applications gain approval, and we’ll do the bulk of the hard work in getting it organised to make life easier for you.
