Draughts are only one negative aspect of poorly insulated windows. They’re also responsible for the expensive energy bills that eat into the finances of thousands of UK homeowners. Window replacements will solve both issues and have done at this residence where we fitted some traditional white coloured UPVC windows. The occupants sat down with one of our consultants and settled on the hardware for the window first and chose to include gold-plated handles. These handles stay firmly fixed shut when they’re locked and help the windows eliminate any coldness that previously occurred indoors.
Standard shaped windows were inserted into most of the available apertures once the old windows were removed, except for the arched window which we specially crafted to sit on the upper floor – it looks stunning against the arched brickwork. The bay window downstairs is also in contrast to the majority of the other windows fitted. Because it projects forward, a huge amount of natural light travels through it and leaves the respective room feeling energised. There’s also the option to open the two side windows in the bay window if the house could do with an injection of fresh air. When shut and the sun becomes too overpowering, the blind can be pulled to cover it.
